Alvar Aalto
One of the most famous Finns in the world is architect Alvar Aalto, who among other things designed Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Alvar Aalto was actually born in Kuortane in South Ostrobothnia. He has designed the Administrative and Cultural Centre of Seinäjoki known as the Aalto Centre. Aalto's clean and timeless form language can be seen both in details and in composition of six buildings. The wide plains of Ostrobothnia as well as the city of Seinäjoki can be observed from the 65 meter high church tower of the Cross of the Plains (Lakeuden Risti in Finnish).

Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd museum
Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd museum is the museum for voluntary national defence. The museum operates in the South Ostrobothnian Defence Corps building in the city centre. The museum buildings, designed by Alvar Aalto, were built in 1924-26. The three-storey house represents classicism, with features of functionalism and Ostrobothnian building heritage.
